Cost: From $1,900 PP

Duration: Depending on experience

Hours: 8am to 4pm

Who Should do this Course?

This course is a requirement for anyone driving heavy combination vehicles within Australia as specified by Safe Work Australia. A HC Licence (Heavy Combination Licence) is a legal requirement for anyone who wishes to operate an articulated vehicle with three axles or more. This licence allows drivers to drive any prime mover with a single semi-trailer, or heavy vehicle plus a single trailer greater than 9 tonnes GVM.

Course Content

The course consists of theory & practical training, followed by an assessment day which consists of both written & practical components.

The TLILIC3017 course is designed to equip learners with the skills and knowledge needed to secure a licence for driving a heavy combination vehicle. Drivers will learn how to proficiently control all vehicle functions, monitor traffic and road conditions, manage vehicle condition and performance, couple and uncouple trailers, and handle hazardous situations effectively. By definition, a heavy combination vehicle includes:

A prime mover with a minimum of three axles and a semi-trailer with a minimum of two axles. The vehicle must have a Gross Combination Mass (GCM) rating of at least 24 tonnes.

A heavy rigid vehicle towing a trailer. The trailer must have at least two axles and a Gross Vehicle Mass (GVM) of 12 tonnes or more.

Licensing Examination: Drivers be assessed through a licensing examination conducted by or under the authority of  their state/territory's driver licensing authority. This test ensures they possess the necessary skills and knowledge to safely operate a heavy combination vehicle.

Licensing Criteria: While completing this unit is essential, it's not the sole requirement. To obtain a Heavy Combination Driver Licence, individuals will need to meet other criteria. Verify additional requirements, such as licence tenure and medical fitness,  with the relevant state/territory driver licensing authority before starting your training and assessment.
