This course is a requirement for anyone required to operate or drive a medium rigid vehicle within Australia as specified by Safe Work Australia. A medium rigid (MR) licence allows drivers to drive any 2 axle rigid vehicle, including a truck or bus and may tow a trailer of no more than 9 tonnes GVM (and within GCM limits).

The course consists of theory & practical training, followed by an assessment day which consists of both written & practical components.

This unit encompasses the systematic and efficient control of vehicle functions, continuous monitoring of traffic and road conditions, effective management of vehicle condition and performance, and adept handling of hazardous situations. Medium rigid vehicles covered in this unit include two-axle rigid trucks (excluding prime movers) above 8 tonnes Gross Vehicle Mass (GVM) and two-axle buses above 8 tonnes GVM.

Licensing Examination: To prove your skills, you'll go through a licensing examination overseen by your state/territory's driver licensing authority. This test ensures you're proficient in driving medium rigid vehicles and following all local licensing requirements.

Licensing Criteria: While completion of this unit is a fundamental requirement for obtaining a Medium Rigid Driver Licence, it is essential to note that it is just one of several criteria. Prospective licence applicants must verify other eligibility criteria, such as licence tenure and medical fitness, with the state/territory driver licensing authority before pursuing training and assessment.

Appropriate clothing and covered shoes or boots, food and drinks. This course is covered in a face to face learning environment. Applications must have held a Class C licence (not a learner) for at least one year.

There are no preparation requirements for this course.

All enrolments are considered tentative until payment has been received. Full course fee must be paid within 48 hours of enrolment.

Upon successful completion participants will receive a Nationally Recognised Statement of Attainment of TLILIC2015.
