Who Should do this Course?

This course is a requirement for those in construction industry to show they understand how to work safely as specified by Safe Work Australia.

Course Content

The course consists of theory & practical training, followed by an assessment which consists of both written & practical components.


This unit of competency outlines essential work health and safety training prerequisites for individuals preparing to engage in construction work. Participants are required to demonstrate a strong personal awareness and comprehensive understanding of health and safety legislative requirements. This knowledge is fundamental for creating a secure work environment, ensuring personal safety, and preventing injuries to oneself and others.


Key Competencies:

Identification and Reporting: Participants learn to identify and report common construction hazards promptly and accurately.

Risk Control Measures: Understanding basic risk control measures is emphasised to minimise potential dangers on construction sites.

Emergency Response: Procedures for responding to potential incidents and emergencies are covered in depth, ensuring swift and appropriate actions in crisis situations.

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Participants are trained in the correct selection and fitting of common personal protective equipment (PPE) vital for ensuring safety during construction activities.


Licensing, Legislative, Regulatory, or Certification Requirements: This unit is subject to various legal and regulatory standards. Participants must adhere to licensing, legislative, regulatory, and certification requirements applicable in their jurisdiction.


Consultation with Regulatory Authorities: Individuals are strongly advised to consult with the appropriate work health and safety state and territory regulatory authorities. Engaging with these authorities is essential to confirm specific jurisdictional requirements and ensure full compliance with legal standards.

Course Requirements

Appropriate clothing and covered shoes or boots, food and drinks. This course is covered in a face to face learning environment, and partially online. There are no entry requirements for this qualification and is designed for those who are required to prove they have competency in working safely in the construction industry.

Course Preperation

There are no preparation requirements for this course. Foundation skills are beneficial however are not mandatory.

Course Fees

All enrolments are considered tentative until payment has been received. Full course fee must be paid within 48 hours of enrolment.

Course Outcome

Upon successful completion participants will receive a Nationally Recognised Statement of Attainment of CPCCWHS1001.  Introductory competency into the construction industry.
